On this Day in History
Jan. 30, 1847 - Virginia Clemm Poe dies
After a long struggle with tuberculosis Edgar Allan Poe's wife Virginia dies at the age of 24 on Jan. 30th 1847. Edgar Poe was devastated by her death. The only fully authenticated portrait of Virginia, a watercolor, was created a few hours after her death.

FEB. 02, 1847 - Virginia Poe's funeral takes place.
Virginia's funeral was held in the bitter cold on the afternoon of Feb. 2, 1847. Edgar Poe refused to look at her face after her death, saying he preferred to remember her in life. She was interred in the vault of the family who owned the cottage in the Bronx (then Fordham) from who Poe was renting.

Julian Cope "Autogeddon" is on right now. Great album. Some of it was recorded in a burial chamber in West Kenner Longbarrow in Wiltshire England. I guess it is a huge megalithic structure something like 6,000 years old, with stanes weighing upwards of 50 tons!

Ahh, a rare day off to myself and some time to write. Leaves are crunchy underfoot and it won't be long before winter is upon us.
I just thought about the MP3 on the front page of this site. I am not sure if it gives a good impression. I prefer my acoustic EP Better Then A Bandage for the uninitiated. Let me know what you think. It was recorded awhile ago. My good friend Brian Goss gave me his drum machine and that song was put down on 4-track immediately. I like it, but it looses something in the mp3. The bass isn't showing up as it should, but that is to be expected with an mp3. I highly recommend buying cds whenever you can. It supports the artist and you get to look at artwork from the cd while you are listening to the music.
Listening to the new one by Bob Mould right now. It came highly recommended by Tom G. and Tony R.

I went to Albany tonight to see LISA GERMANO. She was great! The gig was at "Valentines", the same place I saw DAVID J few years back. She played her old Telecaster for half the songs and a keyboard for the other half. And yes, there Is a recording of it. She had a guy backing her up. He was playing an Omnichord thing for a lot of the songs and he had some cool electronic ambient sounds happening for other songs. What a cool show. I HIGHLY recommend you go see her if it is at all possible. She is playing all over the globe.

Ok, it's officially Autunm here in Windless Air Music Land. My favourite time of year. Cracklin' leaves, crisp air. Unfortunately, it also seems to be the same time of year the big bills come around, taxes, insurance... all that fun stuff. Of course I didn't help any because I bought a new amp. Well, almost new. It's a FENDER and it's very cool. I like it alot even though I did get Totally screwed on the shipping charges.

NFL season is here again. Along with pumpkin beer!

Here's some music that is making a rotation on the changer:
Lisa Germano. I'll be going to see her play soon. Should be a good show. Always is. You never know what to expect.
Another band to check out is Bishop Allen. They are doing this cool thing right now where they are releasong a cd/ep a month. Each cd/ep is named after the month. It's ALL good.
March Fourths. What potential
And if you are in England, go see The Container Drivers. Thier live shows are not to be missed! And if you have the time, check out some Dripping Goss.
If you want links to these bands, drop me an email. It's too technical to do the html here. Ha ha!

OK, a blog. What is it? I'm not sure. I guess it's about having a sense of humour. I guess. Posting to a e-list or web forum is about going public with your feelings, so I guess a blog is the same? If you didn't want your feelings known, you wouldn't post them online. Well. we'll see how it goes.
Ok, then back to your regular scheduled programming and music.
